A
suggestion how to save and rename the 'Easy Record Song' for making a zip-file?

A. SAVE SONG TO DISK

(I guess this is for most people the easiest and most familiar  way.....)

When you whish to save your recorded (or reloaded song from the SD-card) song to disk.....

0. Starting: you have a (Easy Recorded) Song in the sequencer...
1. Click on <DISK>
2. Click on <SAVE>
3. Click on <TECHNICS FORMAT>.

The <SAVE-MENU> is on display

4. Choose an empty place to save your song to..
5. Click on <NAME>

You have to fill in a 6-character name.

6. Click on <PAGE>: Go to page 2/3 <SAVE OPTION> and set to  <ON> …:

  FEATURE OPTIONS
1 Current panel
2 Panel memory (3 Bank or ALL) Only if your used the panelmemories in your rec
3 Sequencer This wil mostly used always
4 Composer Only if you used a composorstyle in the memory-banks
5 Sound memory Only if you used the <memory-button> in the <sound group
6 Performance pads Only if you used the user pads in your record!. You don’t have to save it when you used the build-in pads
7 Effect memory Only if you used selfmade/user definied effects
8 (The act-file, only KN7000) the *.act-file will be saved automatically

PS. The file-size in the default Easy Record  Modus <SAVE OPTIONS> are :

Example: a song (Perfidia, incl. composer) recorded in Easy Record with the default saving options

FEATURE FILE EXTENSION Kb EVERAGE SPACE in %
1 Current panel *. lsw 4 Kb 5 %
2 Panel memory (3 Bank) *.pmt 11 Kb 14 %
3 Sequencer *.sqt 14 Kb 16 %
4 Composer *.cmp 28 Kb 36 %
5 Sound memory *.tm 16 Kb 20 %
6 Performance pads *.msp 5 Kb 6 %
7 Effect memory *.efc 2 Kb 3 %

TOTAL

80 Kb 100 %

Another song and using the build-in rhythms and no (user definied) files: only needed the Panel Memory and Sequencer (and *act). 25 Kb 65 % smaller!!!
So: take care of saving unnecessarely files and use the <SAVE OPTIONS ON PAGE 2>

7. Click on <SAVE>

The keyboard saves your song in 8.3-disk-format,  starting with 2 digits (e.g. 03APACHE.xxx)

8. Thereafter you can zip the 2-7 files

·         You can use the first 8 characters for the zip-name.

·         With these 2-7 files the song will be working on other KN7000 or KN6X00 keyboards

9. Guestplayers:

  • Please, pay good attention to the way you zip these songs (no unnecessairly files, please..)
  • Please send me each song separately zipped . Thereafter you can make one great zip-file (Then I is easier for me: I need  only one great zipped-file to unpack and have all songs separately zipped for publishing on your Personal KESO Page)
  • it would be handy when you send in more files for placing on your page that you start each page with the songnumbers as follows: 01XXXXXX.XXX 02XXXXXX.XXX, 03XXXXXX.XXX and so on...

(Only on KN7000)

0: STARTING: you have a Easy Record Song in the sequencer....

B. THE SD-card

I: Using the free 'KN7000 SD-Card Tool' in combination with a USB-cardreader

1. Use the 'copy to'-button and choose a folder to save to a folder

2. Then continu procedure below under B-II

Notice: if you have given the songs 'long-names' (more than 6 characters) I recommend to use the procedure below (II), because in the final step (and for the loading-format) the names have to be truncated again to the 8.3 format! With the 'Windows Explorer' it is easier to select the two/tree files you need.

II:Using 'Windows Exporer' in combination with a USB-cardreader

1. go to the folder named e.g. 'X:\PRIVATE\TECHNICS\KN7000\TLF0003'

A. In that folder you see e.g.:

·         02003KN7.act (basic action file)

·         02003KN7.cmp (composer-settings)

·         02003KN7.efc (effect memory)

·         02003KN7.lsw (curent panel setting)

·         02003KN7.msp (performance pads memory)

·         02003KN7.pmt (panel memory; 3 bank or all)

·         02003KN7.sqt (content of the sequencer)

·         02003KN7.tm (sound memory)

B. These files have been put on your SD-card by the keyboard in the default setting when you save your performance/song with the 'Easy Record' feature.

C. Other files-extensions could be present (like *.hmp, *.md, *.fav, *ast). This depends on what save-options you set on 'ON' or 'OFF' in the SD-save menu on  page 2/3. see picture>>>>.

2. Copy the following file-formats to a work-folder on your computer

·         XXXXXKN7.act

·         XXXXXKN7.pmt (only if you used the panelmemories in your record!)

·         xxxxxkn7.msp (only if you used the pads in your record!)

·         XXXXXKN7.sqt

3. Rename the 2-4 files  in your work-folder to the following 8.3-format (do not change the extension-names: 'act', 'pmt', 'sqt' ):

·         01XXXXXX.act

·         01XXXXXX.pmt (only if needed)

·         01XXXXXX.msp (only if needed)

·         01XXXXXX.sqt

4. Thereafter you can zip the 2-4 files

·         You can use the first 8 characters for the zip-name.

·         With these 2-4 files the song will be work on other KN7000-keyboards.

5. It would be handy when you send in more files for placing on your page that you start the songnames as follows: 01XXXXXX.XXX 02XXXXXX.XXX, 03XXXXXX.XXX and so on

III. When you uses another filemanager do the procedure above as regular.
